Designed to challenge the convention that hand tools should just be utilitarian, Wheelcracker demonstrates the possibilities of using design to transform the seemingly mundane into something exciting. Wheelcracker's design primarily focuses on the relationship between the user and the various steps required to removing and replacing the nuts on a car wheel. For example, the carrying handle is not only used for transporting the tool, it also serves as a pry bar to remove the hub caps and also to provide extra leverage to loosen stubborn nuts. Inspired by the styling of sports cars, Wheelcracker aims to convey a message of fun, excitement and pleasure to use.
